AUBURN HILLS DOG OWNERS: You can get your dog license at our offices until May 29th for $7.50 for a dog that is spayed or neutered or $15 for a dog who is not. Seniors 65 and over pay less. AFTER JUNE 1, you must get your dog's license at OC Animal Control Division on Brown Road. The cost for ALL doges after June 1 is $30. Oakland County may be checking door to door for licenses and will issue tickets. It is the law that your dog be licensed - GET IT EARLY!
Interested in running for the Library Board? Deadline to file petitions or pay the non-refundable $100 fee is 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21st. There are three seats up for election. Two are full six year terms, and one is a partial term that expires in 2017. You must declare which seat you are seeking. If more than twice the number of open seats have candidates filing, there will be a Primary Election on August 4th; if two or less per seat file then the election will be held on November 3rd with the City Council election. Pontiac School District Ballot Proposal for May 5, 2015
Pontiac School District (PSD) has a Millage Proposal on the ballot for May 5th. In June, debt millage for a bond issue of 3.87 mills will no longer be levied. The PSD is requesting taxpayers to approve a sinking fund millage of 2.87 mills to replace it for 5 years. The requested sinking fund millage on the May 5th ballot is proposed for 5 years.
If the proposal passes and the new millage is approved by PSD voters, the net change to taxpayers in the PSD will be minus one (-1) mill for 5 years, and another 2.87 mills would be scheduled to drop off in 2020.
If the sinking fund millage request fails, PSD officials state that many school buildings will be uninhabitable due to lack of heating, leaky roofs and other deteriorating conditions. The millage, a Building Sinking Fund, will be dedicated for construction or repair of school buildings and not for general operating purposes. Note: Only registered voters in the Pontiac School District will be eligible to vote on this issue.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR MAILING UNTIL ABOUT APRIL 1ST. That is about the time we will get them from the printer. You may have received your application in the mail. Once you sign and return it, we will mail your ballot as soon as we can.
There will be a Special Election on Tuesday, May 5th to vote on raising the sales tax in Michigan. In Auburn Hills, Pontiac School District added a millage question to the ballot. If you are going to be out of town, please contact the Clerk's office at 248-370-9402 for an absentee ballot.
