North Squirrel Roadway Improvements
  • Beginning Monday April 23rd, N. Squirrel Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions from Walton to Cross Creek. The two inside lanes from Walton to University will be closed along with the inside lane University to Cross Creek.
  • Concrete maintenance (panel replacement as needed) will be performed with an estimated 7 day cure time once the new concrete is poured. The contractor will then switch to the outer lanes to complete Phase I.
    • Phase II of N. Squirrel from Cross Creek to Chrysler Drive (just north of Featherstone), will immediately follow.
  • Phase I is expected to take 4-5 weeks to complete and Phase II is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete. Project completion is scheduled for mid-June. Weather conditions and cure times could affect the scheduled completion date.
  • Traffic message boards will be placed at both ends of Phase I beginning Monday April 16th to provide advance notice of the April 23rd project start date.
  • There is no detour route for this project as traffic remains open one lane in each direction.

Phase I Concrete Maintenance Updates
  • The inner lane repairs have been completed and concrete is curing. Unfortunately, there were incidents where motorists drove into the closed lanes and damaged several concrete repair areas.  The contractor had to remove and replace the damaged panels. This delayed the project over a week to complete the inside lanes of Phase I.
  • The contractor will switch to close the outside travel lane southbound and northbound this Saturday May 12th.
  • Work will begin on the outside lanes of Phase I starting Monday May 14th. Phase I work is expected to be completed by the end of May.
  • There is no detour route for this project as traffic remains open one lane in each direction.
