Firefighter - Paramedic
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $50,274

DESCRIPTION:  Protects life and property by performing fire fighting, emergency medical services at the level of a licensed paramedic, hazardous materials and fire prevention duties.  Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities.  

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED equivalent, Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment, Must possess or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver's license without record of suspension or revocation, No felony convictions of disqualifying criminal history, Must be able to speak, read and write the English language, Prefer Two (2) years’ experience as a licensed firefighter and paramedic, Completion of MFFTC Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Drivers Certification Training, Incident Command System, Must possess Michigan Department of Public Health Paramedic License and Must meet City residency requirement within 90 days. 

Compensation plan includes employer funded 401(k), vacation, comprehensive medical and retirement health savings plan.   EOE

Code Enforcement Officer
Employment Type: Part-Time (29 hours per week)
Salary: $16.93 per hour, depending on qualifications

DESCRIPTION: This position performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in the field of code enforcement to ensure that property owners, and/or tenants comply with the various City ordinances including weeds, housing, building, zoning, refuse, and pollution control, and any other related codes, ordinances and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and possessing a valid Michigan Drivers Vehicle Operators or Chauffeurs License.  Possess at least one of the following qualifications:  Technical training in building construction or related field; Two years of college in a related field (e.g. Building Construction, Engineering, Planning, etc.); Have previous related enforcement experience within a building department, ordinance enforcement agency or other law enforcement agency.  Must possess good communications skills (i.e. telephone, written and verbal).

Building Supervisor - Community Center

DESCRIPTION:  Supervises the use of the Community Center on a given shift, and assists in the planning, organizing, and implementation of community recreation programs for seniors, adults, and youth, including cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes and summer programs. Evening and weekend hours.

Department of Public Works - Varies Seasonal Positions Available
Employment Type: 
Seasonal (Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available)
Salary:
$10.00+ per hour

Major Roads 
Duties will be primarily working with the sign portion of the Roads Division assisting with sign asset management and the sign changeover to high-reflectivity, prismatic Type program.  There will also be some work involving road repairs.  The candidate for this position should possess computer proficiency skills as well as be able to perform field work.

Local Roads 

Duties will be focused on working with the full-time staff on the asphalt maintenance and repair program.

Water/Sewer 
Duties are primarily focused on assisting a full-time employee with sewer inspections CCTV camera, manhole rehabilitation program by rebuilding manholes and inspecting and painting hydrants throughout the city. Heavy lifting may be required

Parks and Grounds
Duties will focus primarily on planting, mowing, trimming, weeding, etc. all city parks and municipal buildings in and around City campuses, emptying trash receptacles, assisting full-time staff on park and campus irrigation system.

Forestry
Duties will focus primarily on assisting city arborist maintaining urban forest, including; planting, removing, chipping and pruning all trees located on municipal properties and easements.

Electrician 
Duties will focus primarily on assisting Grade 5 electrician in operation of city lighting systems.

Note: All seasonal employees will assist in City events, DPW open house and the general maintenance of the DPW building equipment and vehicles.
