Building Inspector II
Employment Type: 
Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary: 
$50,336 to $61,173

DESCRIPTION:  Duties include the examination of plans and specifications; inspection of new and existing structures to determine compliance with adopted codes, City ordinances, State requirements, and approved plans. Issues violations notices or stop work orders when code violations are determined.  Assist’s the City Attorney/Prosecutor in order to gain compliance with City codes and ordinances. Applicants must be able to read and interpret building plans and construction drawings and possess knowledge of the State of Michigan Construction Code. This is a Full-Time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma, or equivalent, supplemented by college or trades-level coursework in construction, construction management or a related field, minimum 2 year degree preferred; Minimum of four (4) years of responsible experience in general building construction, a schooled Journeyman carpenter, skilled worker, a person responsibly in charge of construction or a combination of aforementioned;  Must be currently registered as a State of Michigan Act 54 building inspector and plan examiner; Must be able to obtain certification in property maintenance inspections.

Program Developer for Senior Citizens Program
Employment Type: Part-Time (29 hours per week)
Salary: $14.50 per hour, depending on qualifications

DESCRIPTION: This position requires someone who is creative, outgoing, flexible, and team player who enjoys a hands on approach to providing a variety of programs, classes and events for senior citizens. This position involves program development, securing instructors, entertainers, speakers and sponsors. This position works closely with other staff members to deliver outstanding service to the community. This position includes days, evenings, and weekends to ensure successful outcomes of events, programs and classes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to speak to small and large groups. Associates degree in Gerontology, Recreation or closely related degree of a minimum of 2 years of experience successfully developing programs for senior citizens or a combination of both.

DESCRIPTION:
Plans, organizes and coordinates a community recreation program for youth with primary focus on teens in the 13-17 age range such as monthly activities, cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes and programs. Assists in the development and implementation of community recreation programs and events. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred, one year recreation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. The candidate must be experienced and general knowledge of planning and administration.

Building Attendant at The Den

Employment Type: 
Part-Time (10-12 hours/week) evenings and weekends

DESCRIPTION: Supervises the use of The Den on a given shift and performs administrative office duties, responds to public inquiries about the facility, arranges tables/chairs before and after meetings, promotes interest in and provides information regarding city-sponsored programs and services and performs custodial work in the building.

Department of Public Works - Varies Seasonal Positions Available
Employment Type: 
Seasonal (Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available)
Salary:
$10.00+ per hour

Major Roads 
Duties will be primarily working with the sign portion of the Roads Division assisting with sign asset management and the sign changeover to high-reflectivity, prismatic Type program.  There will also be some work involving road repairs.  The candidate for this position should possess computer proficiency skills as well as be able to perform field work.

Local Roads 

Duties will be focused on working with the full-time staff on the asphalt maintenance and repair program.

Water/Sewer 
Duties are primarily focused on assisting a full-time employee with sewer inspections CCTV camera, manhole rehabilitation program by rebuilding manholes and inspecting and painting hydrants throughout the city. Heavy lifting may be required

Parks and Grounds
Duties will focus primarily on planting, mowing, trimming, weeding, etc. all city parks and municipal buildings in and around City campuses, emptying trash receptacles, assisting full-time staff on park and campus irrigation system.

Forestry
Duties will focus primarily on assisting city arborist maintaining urban forest, including; planting, removing, chipping and pruning all trees located on municipal properties and easements.

Electrician 
Duties will focus primarily on assisting Grade 5 electrician in operation of city lighting systems.

Note: All seasonal employees will assist in City events, DPW open house and the general maintenance of the DPW building equipment and vehicles.
