Auburn Hills, MI—November 6—The City of Auburn Hills, a dynamic community committed to innovation and growth, is pleased to announce the upgrade of its current Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the community.  The City’s Tax Increment Finance Authority recently partnered with Chargepoint the national leader in electric vehicle charging stations.  The upgraded stations, which will provide greater efficiencies for residents and visitors to charge their vehicles. 

“In 2011, Auburn Hills became the first city in Michigan to introduce a comprehensive EV infrastructure ordinance that brought about the installation of the first generation EV charging stations,” said Patrick Hassett, Chairman of the Tax Increment Finance Authority.  “Since that time, Auburn Hills has positioned itself to meet the needs of the next generation of vehicles and higher demand for convenient charging locations,” he added. 
EV Chargepoint

The LCD screen at every station will make it easier to instruct drivers in how to use the updated system. Chargepoint Customer Service is available to serve drivers anytime of the day at 1-888-758-4389.  Many new vehicles are coming standard with Chargepoint cards.  If you are accessing a Chargepoint system for the first time, download the smartphone app or call the customer service number to receive a Chargepoint card in the mail.

There are seven EV Charging stations with 11 ports located around Auburn Hills:

  • Auburn Hills Municipal Campus, Parking lots 2 & 3
  • Auburn Hills Community Center
  • Along Eastbound Auburn Road in downtown Auburn Hills
  • The parking lot at The DEN 3388 Auburn Road
  • Two on the third floor of the Primary Parking Structure

The seven updated stations feature modernized technology to charge a vehicle in less time.  Additionally, a new Chargepoint smartphone app allows users to see their EV charging in real time.  If a station is being used, use the app to join a waitlist and receive a notification when your space is available.
