Suspect Charged in Robbery at Auburn Hills Hotel

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, Dequantell Hayward-Lee Jamerson, a 32-year-old man from Flint, Michigan was charged and arraigned at 52/3 District Court after being arrested for allegedly robbing the Hampton Inn hotel, located at 2200 Featherstone Rd. in Auburn Hills.  Jamerson was arraigned on one count of armed robbery in front of Magistrate Holt, where bond was set at $25,000 cash with GPS tether if released.  A preliminary exam conference has been set for December 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm in front of Judge Carniak at 52/3 District Court.  Armed robbery carries a maximum possible penalty of life or any term of years in prison. 

Jamerson

On Monday, December 14, 2020 at about 9:30 pm, officers with the Auburn Hills Police Department were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at the Hampton Inn on Featherstone Rd.  It is alleged that Jamerson entering the front lobby of the hotel and robbed the front desk clerk of an undisclosed amount of money.  He then fled the hotel on foot toward Opdayke Rd.  Officers established a perimeter around the area with the assistance of deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.  Jamerson was located shortly thereafter running from deputies and officers in the City of Pontiac. 

We commend the hotel clerk for her decisive actions during this incident and her ability to contact 911 immediately.  Officers responded within minutes of the robbery and were able to locate the suspect.  We want to thank the Oakland County Sherriff’s Office for their assistance in this case and the efforts of their deputies in capturing the fleeing suspect.
